Slurry distribution box evaluation

A distribution box was to split the main slurry flow from the secondary mill to four classifier screws. Severe wear was observed on the receiving plates, relining and maintenance were time-consuming, and the flow to the four outlets was uneven.

Using VOF CFD simulation, we evaluated several designs produced by the client’s engineering, covering slurry, water and air together, and showed how each would behave in operation.

The analysis identified uncertainties and operational risks in the design, which were taken into account in the decision.
