Size segregation on a belt feeder
Feeding and conveying
Size segregation is common, and how much it matters depends on where the material goes next. This example shows how it can be evaluated.
Material is fed continuously from a chute onto a belt. A section along the belt shows how the particle sizes are distributed through the layer, and the plot tracks the average particle size in the top, middle and bottom of the bed over time.
