Filling degree and slurry flow in the secondary mills
Concentrator, secondary grinding
At high throughput the mill is often throttled as the amount of slurry in it increases.
We analyzed operating data together with established mill models to understand the filling degree, the slurry flows and how the system behaves, and from that how the mill could be operated better at high throughput. Measurements of charge and pulp level inside the mill during stops were part of the work.
The work gave a better understanding of how mill weight, filling degree, slurry volume and slurry hold-up are connected, and a basis for future testing.
