Capacity of the secondary mills

High charge in the secondary mills limited the throughput of the circuit and forced the primary mill to run at a lower rate. Throughput was being lost, but it was not clear which part of the circuit was setting the limit.

We examined whether the constraint was the discharge capacity of the mills or what enters them. Established mill models, including the work of Morrell and Stephenson, were part of the analysis.

The results from the study are now being tested in the plant.
